Work in Progress #1

This is what I’m working on today. I hope to have it all the way done by next week- should be manageable unless this painting catches me by surprise. Paintings, I find, can sneak up and attack when you least suspect it.

Underpass, Penn Ave

Kind of a 45 degree angle- this painting is more heavily textured than other paintings I did in 2012. I used wood chips I get from a wooden bowl maker from Lewisburg. Years ago I made a turtle from his wood chips so he always remembers me during the Lewisburg arts fest when I ask…

Rainy Street, Wilkinsburg

The bottom third of this painting on the left is made of glass. Sadly, this fell and shattered in half. I really liked this painting though.

Abandoned Building, Wilkinsburg, PA

This is a building behind where I work- I was trying a more lyrical movement with the wood pieces. There are more curves in the wood, creating less tension between the looseness of the paint strokes with the hard lines of the wood construction than in previous paintings.
